the changing face of cinema

New technologies either divide or bring together worlds that are Far apart. New media technologies have revolutionised, film industry, as Marshal puts it , there is a lot of interactivity and a thin line between production and consumption.AFRICAN cinema although it has been around for quit a while with piooners like Djibril Diop Mambéty's who were amongst some of the first to discover film out side A merica. More and more have been born with better productions and better quality material thanks to new technologies. Ever since Africa has not looked back with birth of the Nollywood, the Nigerian industies that do not only show case the rich culture of this country but also how small the world has become as people are faced with similar issues and concerns.

BOLLYWOOD,http://www.bollywoodworld.com/ is another film boomer that seems to be making its mark in the film industry , with it music and dance enriched films t and exceptional special effects, show how medias, alters peoples capabilities no matter how remote they may be from the hollywod glitzy studios, storie can be told, through film whether ,they are from africa, india, or anypart of the world.http://www.indiancinemas.com/

Social Networks: what they do to us.

As people we have our dreams and we allow our imagination to take control of our lives so that we are able to dream. When we use social networks we tend to create our imagined world and we live in this imagined space by using the media. Our culture changes and becomes the conscious and the imaginative construction which mobilizes difference or a divide in the society. As people used to our imaginative culture we have fear of the unknown, fear of living in a passive world of possibilities which we do not want to encounter. As human beings we no longer have proper conversations, parents complain of children who always lock themselves in their rooms and spend most of their time on the internet. They blame the new media for stealing their children and always make excuses that they do not have time to speak to their children because they are always busy listening to Ipods or chatting with friends on different networks. What people do not realise is social networks create bounderies that can only be closed by being part of them, when one is not part of them they feek left out and once you are part of them you seperate yourself from other things in the world. To make sure there is a balance one should make sure that they visit both their imaginative world and the real world.

SOSIAL NETWORKS:Gate Crushers Cause R2million Damage.

Well the first thing that comes to your mind when you see such a headline is how such a thing could happen or ask yourself who told the people where the party is? Not everyone is aware of the number of people who are members of social networks and how many people really do care of what people post on these networks.I was quite shocked to read that in the UK people caused property damage because thay had gate crushed a party which they had seen posted on myspace. One rarely thinks of the people who pay attention to such things but almost everyone is connected to one or more of these social networks and they get to know what is happening to their connections in the network each and every day. People who use social networks do not only want to know what is happening but also want to be part of what is happening, the virtual community should always come to existance and thus people would gate crush a party so that when someone writes something on it there are able to comment or share their on views on line. Social networks do not only exist in the cyber world but can also help people come into one place and party or have their cyber conversations face to face.

SOCIAL NETWORKS, What are they really?

Ever thought that by being part of a social network you become a member of a new community. Social networks falls under the virtual communities which come about through their formation by people who love technology. In these communities there is no physical presence which means no body language and thus less things are answered unlike in cases where there is face to face communication. As Dougals Mann says people in the virtual communities are made to become more self centred, keep to themselves and even become more lazier. People tend to avoid meeting other people by simple keeping in touch with them through e mails but can these really be the same with our real communities? In our community we have ethical conciderations to make when doing somethng but on social networks this does not exist, the fact that one can be anonymous helps the users to go out of bounce and say what ever they feel like saying even when it is not the right thing to say. This might seem as a bad community but some people say these communities help them be themselves, they feel at ease communicating with someone miles away than they would if they were to communicate with someone nearby. where other people feel out of place is home for others and so are these vitrual communities.http://hi5.com/

the spectacle of new technologies

DSTV is wonderful, just the other day i found myself watching two very different films from two different eras of movie making and was amazed at the differrence new techonlogy has made in these productions. from tha classicall the first KING KONG (1933) to KING KONG (2005) one gets to contrast the realites that have evolved with in terms of effects . Looking at the 1933 version of king kong now makes it look ridiculoulsy unreal you can tell theat gorrilla was nowqhere near tha actors in the moviebut the latest edition has got thishuge sense of realism in it its spectacular. one gets to see the facial expressions of the gorrilla as it fights to protect the leading lady from the dinasour. What also appears to be more real than in the previous film is the entangling of the gorrilla in the roots it also just make the fisrt version of the movie seem so dull. thesame goes for all the classical remakes , like SUPERMAN, as well as the trilogies such as james bond , the better the technologies the better the effects and the spectacular the film is .

social networks, are they really safe

People use social networks for various reasons like keeping in touch with friends, knowing what their former school mates are doing at present and some to look for friends. When you sign in on these networks you are required to fill in your details which is usually known as ones profile. by doing this you have given the people who visit your profile your identity. Is there privacy in these networks since anyone can get hold of information such as where you stay, how old you are and many other things which can only be known by people who are close to you. Ever heard of cyber criminals, these people are criminals who do their crime by finding their victims on the internet. They have been reports of kidnappings and murders by people who get all the information from the different social networks. People with different fantasies get hold of other peoples information and those who are unlucky can have stalkers on the net and they might even be in the same area as them. Are we really safe on these networks with crime taking place when you have a password to access your account but at the end of the day people get kidnapped ,murdered and some stalked by people they do not know.
